Matthews Custom Calls was created in 2004 quite by accident... As a craftsman and woodworker all of my adult life, I was looking for a Challenge... A friend of mine,who is a duck call fanatic, suggested I try making Duck Calls on my lathe. Why Not? So I turned the call. The next step was learning to file the tone board and trim the reed just right to give me the sound I wanted. It took awhile, but 2 years later, we finally hit on what I believe is the perfect tone and pitch for each of my calls. In 2006 we entered two of my calls in the Reelfoot Working Call Contest in Tennessee We came in SECOND place both in Acrylic and the Wood Divisions That's when the FEVER took over, and here we are! We're having the time of our lives, turning calls and getting to know some Really Great People along the way.
